A flexible work and home for two art dealers and their young family, the re-configured existing house and new mansard roof space had to satisfy a variety of parameters. The resultant design interweaves and negotiates the boundaries between the more public spaces that art can be shown and the private, where the activities of family life can take place.

Modification to the scale of the existing windows and door arrangement of the rear elevation at basement and ground floor reflects the new internal arrangements. Careful consideration was given to the composition that keeps the concept of a house of this period with four apertures within a predominantly brick wall but enlarges them. A new oriel window is introduced in order to allow further natural light and enhanced views and connections with the new landscaped garden.
