Mariners’ Hill

Norfolk

An assemblage of different interconnecting structures accumulated over many years, with the oldest dating back to the 1880s, the house overlooks Blakeney Quay on the north coast of Norfolk. Occupied by three generations of the owners’ family since the mid-fifties, the use of the spaces has remained largely the same albeit with small adaptations.

In keeping with the same spirit of small gestures, a new structure will be added nestled amongst the existing. Taking cues from the existing formal language of the whelk house to its east, it will accommodate elderly parents and younger family members at different times. Elsewhere, the proposed minor alterations will be carried out as part of an overall programme of sensitive restoration.
