Pavilion for All
London
An open competition entry for a new sports pavilion at Clitterhouse Playing Fields in Barnet, the proposal was envisaged as an ensemble of four structures, each one specific to its purpose and set around an informal courtyard providing views over a new landscape filled with sport, play facilities and nature.
The single storey pavilion, with its distinctive roofscape draws on the adjacent postwar housing estate known as ‘Tin Town’ due to the metal cladding on the houses. United under a canopy of timber columns and beams it offers shelter, easy access and a big welcome to people of all ages or ability of the community and beyond.
